The Yogi Adityanath government has formed a special 'Cyber Commando' team to fight cyber crime in Uttar Pradesh. Trained by top institutes like IIT Kanpur and NFSU, these commandos are equipped with advanced tools to curb online fraud, cyber attacks and digital crimes.
The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has created a special team called Cyber Commandos to take strong action against cyber criminals. The move aims to curb cyber fraud, online scams, data theft and digital blackmail across the state. These Cyber Commandos have been trained on the lines of SPG and NSG commandos, focusing on high-level skills, technical expertise and fast response.
According to Cyber/CID Director General Binod Kumar Singh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed officials to take effective steps to control cyber crime in the state.
Following this, a team of 15 specially selected police personnel was formed and trained using advanced technology. Experts from IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, Naya Raipur and the National Defence University (RRU), Gujarat, were involved in the training.
In addition, training in cyber forensics, digital tracing, and online crime investigation was provided by the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gujarat and New Delhi.
After completing training, the Cyber Commandos have been deployed at police zonal offices and headquarters. Their role is to ensure quick and technically strong action as soon as cyber crime complaints are received. They will handle cases related to cyber fraud, online scams, cyber attacks, social media crimes, phishing, data theft and digital blackmailing.
Apart from tackling cyber crime directly, these Cyber Commandos are also training police personnel at district and police station levels. This step is expected to strengthen cyber crime detection and investigation at the grassroots level across Uttar Pradesh. The trained commandos were selected based on their technical skills, analytical ability and field experience.
The Yogi government has equipped Cyber Commandos with advanced software, digital forensic tools, data analytics systems and real-time monitoring technology. These tools will help police track digital footprints, analyse financial transactions and identify entire cyber crime networks more effectively.
The Uttar Pradesh government believes that crime is no longer limited to physical spaces. With criminals increasingly using digital platforms making the police technologically strong has become essential. The Cyber Commando initiative is aimed at ensuring a safer digital environment for citizens and sending a strong message to cyber criminals.
