How long is Dhurandhar? Ranveer Singh’s film runs over 3 hours, the first Hindi film to do so since Jodhaa Akbar

Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Dhurandhar is making headlines not just for its star power, but also for its epic runtime. Clocking in at over three hours, the film is set to become one of the rare modern Hindi movies to exceed the three-hour mark, marking the first major Bollywood release to do so since Jodhaa Akbar in 2008. Fans are already buzzing about what promises to be a grand cinematic experience.



According to Bollywood Hungama, Dhurandhar Part 1 is reportedly around 3 hours and 32 minutes long, positioning it to become the longest Bollywood release in nearly 17 years. It is set to surpass Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Jodhaa Akbar (2008), which currently holds the record with a runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes.

In modern Bollywood, only a select few films have crossed the three-hour mark, making such extended runtimes a rarity. Notable examples include LOC Kargil (2003) at 4 hours and 7 minutes, Lagaan (2001) at 3 hours and 44 minutes, Salaam-E-Ishq (2007) at 3 hours and 36 minutes, and Mohabbatein (2000) at 3 hours and 35 minutes. These films are celebrated not only for their epic storytelling but also for their ability to maintain audience engagement over lengthy durations.



With Dhurandhar nearing the 3.5-hour mark, it is poised to join this exclusive league of Bollywood epics, sparking anticipation among audiences eager to see if the film’s narrative, performances, and scale can live up to its monumental runtime.

The family of the late Major Mohit Sharma had approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the release of Dhurandhar, claiming the film seems to be inspired by his life. After the court refused to grant a stay, Mohit Sharma’s brother, Madhur Sharma, spoke to Hindustan Times about the issue. He noted that since the film was announced, social media and several prominent media outlets have drawn comparisons to his brother. Madhur clarified that the family is not seeking any personal benefit but only wants the producers to provide clarity. He added that their appeal is meant to foster empathy for families who have lost loved ones in military operations. “If the film is based on him, just say, ‘Sorry ma’am, we didn’t inform you.’ If not, confirm that the claims are untrue,” he said.



Dhurandhar starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan and others is all set to release on 5th December 2025.
