A series of brutal and seemingly random attacks across DeKalb County has left Atlanta shaken, with police identifying 26 year old Olaolukitan Adon Abel as the main suspect. Within just a few hours on April 13, authorities say multiple shootings and a deadly stabbing took place, killing two people and leaving another fighting for his life.

What has made the case even more disturbing is Abel’s past, including a prior sexual battery conviction and the fact that he was out on probation at the time. As details emerge, many are now asking who he is, and how this could have happened.

Who is Olaolukitan Adon Abel?

Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a 26 year old man from Atlanta, is now facing some of the most serious charges possible after police linked him to a series of violent attacks across DeKalb County on April 13, 2026. Investigators say the incidents appeared random, with no clear connection between the suspect and the victims. The case has quickly gained attention not just for the brutality involved, but also because Abel was already on probation at the time.

The night of the attacks

Authorities believe the violence unfolded over several hours, creating panic across different parts of the county. The first shooting happened shortly before 1 am outside a Checkers restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road. A woman was shot multiple times and later died in hospital. Around 2 am, another victim, an unhoused man, was shot while sleeping outside a Kroger store in Brookhaven. He survived but remains in critical condition.

The most disturbing case came later that morning. At around 6:50 am, 40 year old Lauren Bullis was attacked while walking her dog in a quiet neighbourhood near Panthersville. She suffered both gunshot and stab wounds and died from her injuries. Reports suggest neighbours rushed in after hearing gunshots and may have interrupted an even more horrific situation. Police later described the attacks as completely random, adding to the fear surrounding the case.

Investigators were able to move quickly using surveillance technology. Officers used Flock safety cameras to trace a vehicle believed to be connected to the shootings, identified as a 2025 Volkswagen Jetta. That trail led authorities to Troup County, where Abel was arrested later the same day. His arrest brought some relief, but also raised bigger concerns about how someone with a prior record was free.

His criminal past and probation

Court records show that Abel had already faced legal trouble before this incident. In 2025, he pleaded guilty in Savannah to multiple counts of sexual battery after being accused of groping several women. He received a suspended sentence and was placed on probation. Conditions reportedly included restrictions and a required evaluation.

Despite this, he was not in custody at the time of the April 2026 attacks. He is now facing multiple new charges, including two counts of malice murder, aggravated assault, and firearm related offences. Authorities also noted that he was not supposed to have a firearm due to his legal status.

The case quickly spread across social media, where people reacted with anger and disbelief. One user on X said, “He was out on probation for sexual battery. How does this keep happening?” Another wrote, “This is exactly why people don’t feel safe anymore. Repeat offenders should not be back on the streets so easily.”

Some reactions turned political, with users blaming local policies and leadership for being too lenient on crime. At the same time, there were also deeply troubling comments targeting the suspect’s name and background, showing how quickly conversations online can turn extreme and divisive during high profile cases.
