Who is Zanai Bhosle and why she stood out at Asha Bhosle’s last rites

The passing of Asha Bhosle at the age of 92 has left a profound void in Indian music. As tributes poured in and the nation mourned one of its most iconic voices, attention quietly shifted to a young figure standing close to the family, her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle.

Born in Mumbai in 2002, Zanai comes from a family deeply rooted in the arts. Her father, Anand Bhosle, has worked in the entertainment industry, shaping an environment where creativity was a constant. Before stepping into films, Zanai explored music, releasing tracks such as “Main Heer Teri” and “Kehndi Hai,” along with reimagined versions of classic songs. However, her next step marks a significant shift.

She is set to make her acting debut in the historical drama The Pride of Bharat, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Directed by Sandeep Singh and starring Rishab Shetty, the film will see Zanai portray Rani Sai Bhonsale. The project is slated for a multilingual release across India in January 2027.
